Emerging Leaders Development Programme (ELDP) Scholarship Recipient
Emerging Leaders Development Programme (ELDP) Scholarship Recipients attend three-day retreats focused on learning about leadership styles, attend three leadership forums and organise and take part in service projects in the community, for example Two Weeks Without.
Hours involved in the activity
3 modules of 12 hours each:
Module 1 - Retreat
Module 2 - Forum
Module 3 - Service Project
Every 12 hours of participation in an activity is equal to one intersection point (12 hours = 1 intersection point).
For this activity you can claim a maximum of 3 learning and development outcomes.
You must be a recipient of a ELDP scholarship award to join this activity.

- A1 - Communication - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will be able to communicate with and engage New Zealand’s biculturalism in a respectful way. They can engage and make contacts with local community groups to support them within service projects where needed.
- A3 - Leadership - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will be able to understand how biculturalism is reflected in leadership values and how their own culture shapes their leadership style. They will develop their servant leadership abilities through being role models and interacting with the New Zealand public.
- B1 - Communication - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will learn to identify opportunities within the UC community for further leadership development. They can inform the public about their service projects to raise awareness of their goals.
- B2 - Initiative & Enterprise - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will seek out opportunities in the UC community to improve the environment for fellow students and prospective students.
- B3 - Leadership - ELDP Scholarship Recipients can accept opportunities presented to them to develop their leadership and role model skills and search for other opportunities that fit their leadership style.
- B4 - Learning - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will learn from examples within the UC Community about successful leaderships and be able to explain the benefits of such an approach.
- B5 - Planning & Organising - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will be able to independently plan and organise a community project that benefits UC students or the local community. They will learn to keep organised and complete tasks to achieve their project goal.
- B6 - Problem Solving - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will be able to identify needs within the community and use resources available to them for a successful community project.
- B7 - Self-Management - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will learn to manage their personal responsibilities to contribute to the team project and evaluate how successful their projects were and understand how their actions affected the results achieved.
- B8 - Teamwork - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will be involved in creating promotional activities and programmes for UC as a team using the skills each member has to an advantage.
- B9 - Technology - ELDP Scholarship Recipients can use a range of technologies as part of their service project, either to raise awareness, store and communication information, or as a tool for organisation and team management.
- C1 - Communication - ELDP Scholarship Recipients can communicative well with people from different backgrounds and cultures. They will use a broad range of communications when carrying out their projects, including presenting ideas, providing feedback to the team and seeking information from stakeholders.
- C2 - Initiative & Enterprise - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will be able to find opportunities for community projects that will make a big impact and can constantly find new ways to improve.
- C3 - Leadership - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will develop a range of leadership abilities, from self-leadership for dedication towards their goals, to social leadership for inspiring others to keep the project on schedule.
- C4 - Learning - ELDP Scholarship Recipients attend leadership retreats and forums to learn about different types of leadership and their own leadership style.
- C5 - Planning & Organising - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will learn to plan effectively their own projects, including creating an overall goal, managing progress and coordinating tasks for themselves and their team. They can find a good balance between finding leadership opportunities and study.
- C6 - Problem Solving - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will be able to sort out any unexpected changes or problems that may occur when planning or carrying out their project.
- C7 - Self-Management - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will be able to find opportunities for further leadership development with the ELDP programme and beyond.
- C8 - Teamwork - ELDP Scholarship Recipients will be able to work in a team environment that focuses on motivation towards a single goal and making the most of other’s skills.
- D1 - Communication - ELDP Scholarship Recipients may have international stakeholders for their projects and will learn to consider culture and language when communicating with others.
- D3 - Leadership - ELDP Scholarship Recipients may engage with a project that has a global impact and will develop their servant leadership abilities as they act as role models for a global audience.
