Researcher Summary

Researcher interests include factors controlling ecosystem processes in Antarctic lakes and ponds, with a particular focus on primary production. This includes measurements of photosynthesis using a range of techniques as well as analysis of irradiance, nutrient dynamics and other factors that affect this process. Field, analytical and experimental approaches are used and research is embedded in international, multidisciplinary teams. Specific interests of these teams include the use of Antarctic ecosystems as analogues for life on early earth, the role of climate in definition of ecosystem properties in Antarctica and responses to change.
