Seafarers Union Scholarship
Description
These scholarships, established in 2007, are offered by the Seafarers Union Scholarship Trust in order to support and encourage undergraduate study in areas of benefit to the people of New Zealand.
Eligibility
Applicants will be New Zealand citizens who are registered and enrolled for undergraduate study at a New Zealand university. At time of application applicants should have completed at least one year of fulltime undergraduate study. All things being equal preference will be given to the following candidates:
a) members of the Maritime Union of New Zealand (Inc), or of the New Zealand Seafarers Union Inc or of the New Zealand Seamens Union Industrial Union of Workers, who are or were by occupation seafarers (see Annex 1);
b) the children or grandchildren of any person who would qualify for preferential treatment, as above
