Student research

Before you start your thesis

If you are interested in beginning a PhD thesis, it is important you talk to the relevant department and the Dean of Postgraduate Research about your proposed research (see Contacts).

Make sure you also understand what resources your department/school can provide.
They will be able to tell you what their policy is for funding such things as:

  • photocopying and printing
  • library resources (eg, the costs of interloan material)
  • technical costs
  • travel funds
  • conference attendance
  • fieldwork
  • studio materials
  • desk and computer facilities etc.
