Examination and appeals
Examination process
Students should not contact examiners during the marking process. Copies of the reports may be available from your department once confirmation of the results have been received.
Once you have submitted your master’s thesis/dissertation the following will happen:- Examiners will be appointed (the Internal Examiner will be a continuing UC staff member, the External Examiner is usually recommended by the Senior Supervisor and is external to the supervisory team)
- The Senior Supervisor will submit a ‘Supervisor’s Certificate’ briefly outlining the part they played in the research and preparation of the thesis.
Timeframes
- The thesis/dissertation will be sent to the examiners for marking once the Supervisor's Certificate and Examiners' Request forms have been received from the department.
- Reports are expected within two months of the examiners' receipt of the thesis/dissertation
- The reports are submitted to the Postgraduate Office and forwarded to the Dean of Postgraduate Research and then to the department's Postgraduate Coordinator.
- Students are contacted via the Postgraduate Office for their results or, if changes are required, by the Department
- An electronic and hard copy of the thesis are required to be deposited in the Library. For further information see the Library Thesis Portal (Library website)
