Pacific Development - Pacific Students - University of Canterbury - New Zealand

About the Pacific Development Team

The University of Canterbury (UC) provides a welcoming and supportive environment for students of Pacific heritage. Pacific friendly services and programmes have been designed to ensure that you get the most out of both your studies and your free time.

UC is one of the leading universities in New Zealand for research quality (TEC, PBRF Report, 2006) and has a well-established research centre that is dedicated to Pacific Studies – the Macmillan Brown Centre for Pacific Studies.

We pride ourselves on the strong links we have with other Pacific educational institutions and we work closely with local Pacific communities.

The Pacific Development Team runs many events throughout the University year. Pasifika Welcome is our first major event and is for all Pacific students and their families. Jandals, the Pasifika Postgraduate Symposium and the Achievers Evening are some of the things students can look forward to during the year.

Induction and the Pacific Mentoring Programme are run especially for our first-year (including transferring) Pacific students and the PASS programme is available to all Pacific students to support academic learning and achievement.

We also have a dedicated Pacific Education Advisor and specific events for College of Education students that are held at the Dovedale campus.

The Pacific Development Team are placed across the University Campus. Please view our contacts page for details of specific locations.
