Internet and data
Free internet allowance
All students receive 100GB per month of free internet allowance for external internet use, such as Google searches. You are not charged for accessing UC sites (sites ending in ".canterbury.ac.nz").
If you go over 100GB in a month, you will be charged 0.2c per MB ($2.00 per GB) for your internet access.
You can monitor your current internet allowance and account balance by logging into your IT account.
File storage and OneDrive for Business
As a UC student, you automatically have 2GB of storage on your personal “P Drive”. This storage space is hosted locally on UC servers and can be accessed off campus via My Documents (P: Drive).
If you started university before 1st June 2013, you will also have 7GB of OneDrive storage space. (OneDrive was previously called SkyDrive).
OneDrive for Business is free online storage for your files that you can access from anywhere. With OneDrive for Business, you can get to your photos, documents, and other important files wherever you are.
Access OneDrive for Business online or download the OneDrive app on your iPhone or iPad, Android, or Windows Phone.
Public Key Infrastructure
UC uses its own internal Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). If you are not using a university owned computer, you may need to install the UC Root Certificate on your machine.
See the UC root certificate page for more information.
