UC International Doctoral Scholarship receipient

Mook Tzeng LimMook Tzeng graduated from the Universiti Tenaga Nasional with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. After working in the industry, he pursued his master’s in Biomass Energy at the Universiti Sains Malaysia.

He had always been passionate about biomass energy, and wanted to gain more experience in this area of research. He discovered that the Wood Technology Research Centre in the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering at UC was undertaking extensive research in biomass-to-energy conversion technologies, so he applied to study for a PhD within the research group. The research is focused on the development and improvement of technologies to increase the use of biomass-converted fuel. This would reduce dependence on fossil fuels and decrease greenhouse gas emissions.

Mook Tzeng is enjoying his studies at UC. “The positive attitude of my research colleagues and superiors is an important factor in the progress of my project, while the support and expertise of the technical staff is superb as well”.

Mook Tzeng is also enjoying the lifestyle in New Zealand: “I would recommend New Zealand to students who enjoy outdoor activities. The wide landscapes of the Canterbury plains and the numerous walking tracks in the conservation parks make it such a beautiful place to live in. Studying abroad has allowed me to broaden my horizons and has also enriched my life experience. I am exposed to something new, which makes my time here more fulfilling.”
