In addition to tuition fees there is an administration fee of NZ$100 and a Student Services Levy, to cover the cost of the Canterbury Card, Health levy and other administrative and support services.
Notes:
- The fees quoted are for 2012 and are reviewed annually. Students undertaking a programme of more than one year’s duration should be aware that fees may increase in subsequent years.
- All fees are set and invoiced in New Zealand Dollars. To check current exchange rates, please consult a currency conversion site such as Oanda (University of Canterbury does not guarantee these rates).
- The New Zealand Goods and Services Tax (GST) is included in the fee total.
- Fees quoted are for an average course load. The actual tuition fee to be paid varies depending on the courses selected, and is calculated by adding up the fees for the individual courses taken. To work out what fees you will pay, see the Courses, Subjects & Qualifications webpage or the Guide to Enrolment (PDF, 1.43MB)
- The tuition fee must be paid in full before or at enrolment.
- Some subjects have extra costs associated with them in addition to tuition fees (textbooks, materials, field trips, etc). Thesis publication fees are also additional to the tuition fees quoted.
- International PhD students pay tuition fees at the domestic rate (in 2011, NZ$5400 to NZ$6500 per year, depending on the subject area), provided that the students reside in New Zealand and study under a New Zealand student visa. Please note: this domestic rate applies to enrolment in the PhD thesis only - enrolment in non-PhD courses will be charged at the full international postgraduate rate.
- Please note that an application for admission is not an application for funding. If granted admission, students need to arrange funding to cover tuition fees, living expenses and other costs. An offer of a place is issued for admission purposes and does not imply or guarantee funding for studies.
- Many graduate diplomas attract an undergraduate rather than a postgraduate fee. Please enquire for details.
- Enrolment and Fees Policies and Regulations (including refund policies). The University reserves the right to change these published fees before enrolment to reflect any changes in Government or University Council Policy.
