Campus tours

Campus tours will leave from the Matariki Quad at 9.15am, 11.15am, 1.15pm and 3.15pm. 

Department tours

Classics and Music at The Arts Centre of Christchurch

UC Music and Classics now have a beautiful central city location in the historic Arts Centre of Christchurch. This amazing heritage building has had a custom fit out to include teaching and practise studios for performance music, a beautiful recital room for public performances, a lecture theatre, meeting rooms, student and staff common room, and the jewel in our crown: The Teece Museum of Classical Antiquities, which houses the university’s Logie Collection. 

The Arts Centre site will be open for students to drop into between 3pm and 5pm on Open Day. Complimentary vans will depart from the Accommodation Hub, Matariki at 3.30pm and return by 5pm.

Students will have the opportunity to have a tour of the building and a look around the Teece Museum, the perfect way for Music and Classics students to finish their UC Open Day experience. 

School of Fine Arts

Engineering Core

UC has been rebuilding or completely refurbishing every wing of the engineering precinct, including construction of a new Structural Engineering Laboratory, to ensure our students experience the most modern educational facilities available. Come and see our state-of-the-art facilities on Open Day.

Engineering tours will be on demand and are to the departments of Chemical and Process EngineeringCivil and Natural Resources EngineeringElectrical and Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Tours depart every 15 minutes from the Engineering Core. 

If you are taking part in the Engineering and/or Science tours, you will need to wear closed-toe shoes to enter the labs.

Centre for Entrepreneurship

The UC Centre for Entrepreneurship (UCE) provides a dedicated, student-focussed space where ideas and innovation can flourish, stimulating the development of entrepreneurs through a combination of research, teaching and community engagement. UCE is open for visitors from 10am – 2pm.

All Science tours depart from the School of Biological Sciences Foyer.

Library Tours

 Central Library - Te Puna Mātauraka o Waitaha, Puaka-James Hight

  • Tours: 11am, 2pm, 3pm
  • Opening hours: 8am – 11pm

Just inside the entrance of the Central Library there will be a display featuring all of the libraries and library services on campus. Drop in any time during the day to have a look.

Macmillan Brown Library - Te Puna Rakahau o Macmillan Brown, Te Ao Mārama

  • A chance to get up close with artworks, architectural drawings, rare books and other treasures used for teaching and research.
  • Tours provided on demand: 10am – 4pm
  • Opening hours: 8.30am – 5pm
