Campus tours and future student events
UC hosts a series of campus tours and future student events throughout the year.
We encourage you to visit our attractive and welcoming Campus.
Guided and Self-Guided Tours are available.
Guided Campus Tours
Campus Tours are scheduled on most Mondays and Fridays during term time. At other times, you are welcome to take a self-guided campus tour.
Tours are not available on weekends or Public Holidays.
Tours on the first Friday of the month and during the school holidays include a visit to the area of study you are most interested in.
Campus Tours start at 9.30 am sharp.
Guided Campus tours include: a look at some of our Campus Facilities e.g. library, bookshop, lecture theatres, the recreation centre, student social and study spaces, and some of our fantastic new learning facilities.
Our Student Campus Tour Mentor gives insider knowledge of Campus.
A visit to the halls of residence can be added to your campus tour request form.
If you are travelling from outside Christchurch you might like to come the night before to enjoy Christchurch and for a more relaxed visit.
Campus Cafes have great food but depending on your itinerary you may not have time for a sit down break, particularly if you are visiting the halls as part of your Campus visit. Therefore you might like to come prepared with snacks and drinks.
Good footwear and clothing for all weather helps for an enjoyable tour.
Book your Guided Tour now. A minimum of one week’s notice is required.
Can’t make a scheduled tour date?
You are welcome to do your own self-guided tour from 9am-4pm.
Our exciting Campus transformation is underway. View current Major Building Projects
Please do not enter restricted areas including construction sites (stay behind the hoardings).
Teachers and Careers Advisors: We welcome school groups to visit campus.
It is a fantastic opportunity for students to see where they will be studying after secondary school and to encourage them to start planning for their future.
To enable us to tailor an itinerary, a minimum of one month's notice is required so your students get the most from their on campus experience.
If in addition to your tour you would like to discuss course options, you can book an appointment with a Liaison Officer by phoning 0800 VARSITY (827 748).
UC Bound is a great opportunity to meet other students who will be starting out at UC at the same time as you. You will also be able to meet key UC staff who are able to help you during your first year at UC. These events will be taking place throughout October.
We have a series of team-based activities and challenges planned for you and your whānau to enjoy.
The Liaison Team regularly travels the country visiting schools and attending various events. Please check Liaison staff visits in your area.
UC holds a wide variety of events throughout the year for future students.

Meet people and find out how UC works - UC Orientation Day is the best way to find out what university life has to offer.

The University of Canterbury invites future students along with their families to attend our information evenings.
UC Open Day 2017
The University of Canterbury invites all future students and their families to the UC Open Day on Thursday 13 July in the first week of the school holidays.
Open Day gives future students and their families a chance to check out what it is like to be a student at UC through a wide range of showcase events.
This is a good opportunity to:
- meet lecturers and attend introductory lectures
- gather in-depth information on subjects, qualifications and scholarships
- tour lecture theatres, labs, libraries, sport facilities and accommodation options
- You can choose the sessions you attend - whether one or ten.
