Missed exams

A candidate who reports late or misses an examination as the result of a genuine mistake about the scheduled time of the examination may be considered for a Special Pass.

How to apply for a Special Pass

To be considered you must, within 72 hours (excluding weekends and statutory holidays) from the starting time of the missed examination:

  • Report to Carolyn Stewart in Student Services Centre.
  • submit a completed statutory declaration outlining your situation to the Manager, Records, Examinations, Graduation and Scholarships.
  • report to the Head of Department/School which set the examination paper.

Please contact the Examination Arrangements Senior Co-ordinator for further information.

If the exam is scheduled to take place on a Saturday please either:
  • Report to the Examinations Control Room KF3 (Oct/Nov 2011). Open Tuesday, 25 October - Thursday, 10 November (excluding Sundays.)
  • contact the Examination Arrangements Senior Co-ordinator on the Monday following the exam.

Gaining a Special Pass

If the Head of Department/School is satisfied that the candidate's work in the course and results in other courses is substantially above minimum pass standard, the student may be recommended for a Special Pass.

To assist in coming to a decision, a Head of Department/School may require the candidate to take a special test or examination.

A candidate may be given only one Special Pass while at the University of Canterbury.
