Learning stories can provide an assessment tool that celebrates the progress of each child while providing a vehicle for input from parents, teachers, teacher aides and students.
Assessment is the starting point for responding to diversity, yet existing assessment tools are often unable to provide effective data for classroom teachers to enable appropriate planning and interventions for students with special needs.
Learning stories link Te Whariki and the New Zealand Curriculum and enable a school community to review, plan and prioritise to address the diverse needs within their community. The publications Narrative Assessment ( MOE 2009) and Collaboration for Success (MOE 2011) will be used as a references for this presentation.
