In this course, you will build confidence in the pronunciation of te reo with a focus on using te reo in a range of contexts to facilitate play. You will look at the te reo already in use within your centre and where this could be extended: wa waiata (singing), kei roto i te whare kaukau (washing hands/bathroom/nappy time), wa moe (sleep time), wa kai (time to eat), wa takaro (inside and outside play), praise and encouragement, instructional te reo
Alongside te reo, you will also examine language acquisition theories and effective strategies. Links between Te Whariki and the New Zealand Curriculum will be woven throughout. Participants will take away a te reo resource supporting the use of te reo phrases in a range of situations and contexts. Cost $180. Please contact UC Education Plus for enrolment in this course.
