Civil and Natural Resources Engineering are hosting a seminar presented by Norman Hardie, retired civil engineer and Distinguished Fellow Institution of NZ Engineers entitled "Water - West to East" on Friday 3 July 2009 at 1.10pm in Engineering College Lecture Theatre E11.

Abstract
Norman Hardie will give an illustrated lecture on a proposed tunnelling scheme. This scheme would deliver water from the tributaries of two large South Westland rivers to the Tasman River and then to Lake Pukaki, without pumping. There would be no dams or flooded valleys, just tunnel entry and exit structures. It would give considerable boosting to several existing hydro electric stations and provide water for some of the South Canterbury irrigation projects presently being considered.

Norman has visited similar schemes already existing in Europe.

All welcome
