Main Regulations for Visiting Erskine Fellowships and Visiting Canterbury Fellowships

 

Visiting Erskine Fellowships

  1. Visiting Erskine Fellowships may be awarded to persons from overseas who speak the English language fluently and who are already advanced in the learning of any subject taught in the Faculties of Commerce, Engineering or Science for the purpose of giving lectures in such subjects to students of the University. In making awards, preference shall be given to persons residing at the time in the British Commonwealth or the United States of America.  Nominations of visitors of wide interest are encouraged.

  2. An award will normally be for a period of from 1 to 3 months. The maximum funded period of a Visiting Erskine Fellowship may be increased to 4 months if a case is made and approved at the time of the nomination.

  3. A Visiting Erskine Fellow will receive a grant-in-aid which takes account of a return airfare by the most direct and economical route, accommodation with a pre-approved provider and a daily allowance towards living expenses. When appropriate, a second airfare will be offered for a spouse, partner or other immediate family member for a minimum visit, excluding travelling time, of 28 continuous nights during the period of the Fellowship proper. The person need not travel with the visitor in either direction. The University does not remit cash overseas for travel purposes or make cash reimbursements for visitors' travel.

Visiting Canterbury Fellowships

  1. Visiting Canterbury Fellowships may be awarded to distinguished scholars from overseas in those Departments within the Faculties of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, and Visual and Performing Arts that do not have access to the Erskine Fund, for the purpose of giving lectures in such subjects to students at the University of Canterbury. Nominations of visitors of wide interest are encouraged.

  2. An award will normally be for a period of from 1 to 3 months. The maximum funded period of a Visiting Canterbury Fellowship may be increased to 4 months if a case is made and approved at the time of the nomination.

  3.
