Our mission statement: Globally connected, we will grow through our inspirational teaching and innovative research, and become one of the top ten engineering colleges in the Southern Hemisphere by 2023.
The University of Canterbury is in the top 3 per cent of universities in the world. Our Civil and Natural Resources Engineering Department is ranked in the top 100 worldwide Civil Engineering departments. Chemical and Process Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering are ranked in the top 200. An Engineering degree from UC is internationally recognised, allowing graduates to work all over the world. Our broad range of postgraduate specialist qualifications are designed to meet industry demand and graduates are sought after locally and internationally.
Some schools within the College of Engineering are interdisciplinary. With maths a crucial element of most degrees, the college hosts the School of Mathematics and Statistics. We are also home to the School of Forestry and students may study for a BE (Hons) specialising in Forestry Engineering, or a Bachelor of Forestry Science depending on their interests.
Engineering is about problem solving, creative thinking and applying new technology and ideas to our physical world.
Our researchers are known worldwide and with $142 million spent on upgrades our facilities are state of the art.
All BE(Hons) students begin with the Engineering Intermediate Year before selecting their discipline.
Our School of Forestry offers the only professional forestry degree programmes in New Zealand.
UC Engineering keeps you connected with YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Weiyi (Tony) Li is a Forestry Engineering graduate now working for PF Olsen in Rotorua. He shares his UC journey.
