A postulated end user autonomy is an increasing topic in business departments. But this subject is related with a lot of questions like:
- What different kinds of end user autonomy exist?
- Who actually needs IT for which purpose?
- Does a centralized data integration is still necessary?
- What are business oriented analytical needs?
- What are the effects on user interfaces?
Those raised questions are related with unmet requirements, overrated end users, data quality, visualization needs, and an open discourse about centralized IT versus decentralized IT. This talk is addressing the mentioned bullet points to discuss together with the audience about their own experience and to gain some confirmability, why this issues are coming up. It shall also lead to a discussion about a research agenda which brings together researchers from computer science, information systems, and business administration to gain insights and to develop new artifacts to increase the scientific body of knowledge.
Note that this seminar is sponsored by the IEEE NZ Computer Society.
