ICCE2017 Local Organizing Committee and Volunteers

The conference is organised by the Asia-Pacific society for Computers in Education (APSCE). The International Conference on Computers in Education (ICCE) is an annual conference series encompassing a broad range of issues related to using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for education at all levels, ranging from pre-school to life-long learning.
 
ICCE 2017 is organized as a meta-conference with seven subconferences focusing on specialized themes.
The conference received a total of 213 papers. After rigorous reviews, 173 papers were accepted for the conference (49 full papers, 78 short papers and 62 posters). The proceedings are open for access from the conference/society websites.
 
The conference attracted a large number of participants: more than 320 participants more than 30 countries from Asia, Europe, North and South America, Africa and Australia. The biggest group was from Japan (96 participants). There were four keynote speakers: – Professor Mike Sharples, Open University, UK – Professor Judy Kay, University of Sydney, Australia – Professor Eric Klopfer, MIT, USA – Professor Tsukasa Hirashim, University of Hiroshima, Japan.
 
The local chairs were Professor Antonija (Tanja) Mitrovic and Dr Moffat Mathews, CSSE. University of Canterbury, the College of Engineering and Unitec were among the sponsors. The PVC of the College of Engineering, Professor Jan Evans-Freeman welcomed the participants during the opening session. There were several cultural events during the welcome reception (mihi presented by AVC Liz Brown and a performance by MYG, a Samoan group), and the conference dinner (four pieces performed by the Christchurch City Choir, and a Maori performance) Many participants commented that ICCE 2017 was the best ICCE conference ever!
