The New Plymouth Centre is located within the Western Institute of Technology (WITT) campus and offers the Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Early Childhood).

How you will learn

One half-day class is held each fortnight, with students engaging in distance learning options at other times.

Required attendance

At the beginning of each semester students attend an orientation that introduces them to their subjects and to UC systems.

Students are also required to attend Professional Practice in a range of early childhood centres. These are arranged by UC staff. There are two Professional Practices each year of the degree.

It is suggested that students affiliate themselves with a licensed early childhood centre, of their own choosing, in order to become familiar with the processes and procedures within an early childhood setting.

Professional practice
Year one Semester one: 2 weeks  Semester two: 4 weeks
Year two Semester one: Community Engagement  Semester two: 5 weeks
Year three Semester one: 5 weeks  Semester two: 5 weeks
