Māori Leadership in Early Childhood Services

We are inviting expressions of interest from early childhood teachers and managers in the Canterbury region to take part in this free PLD opportunity.

This PLD is for Māori teachers in early childhood services or for teachers with a passion for tamariki Māori succeeding as Māori.  It is delivered kanohi ki te kanohi and is an opportunity for teachers to engage in narratives that will critically reflect on practice that is culturally responsive.

The programme will focus on He aha te mea nui o tea o? He tangata, he tangata, He ngakau nui ki te tamaiti; He ngakau nui ki te tangata; He ngakau nui ki te ao Māori in relation to implementing Te Whāriki.

Teachers will be working alongside the facilitator within their own settings to identify their own strengths and areas for development and there will also be opportunities for leaders to come together to share, provoke, and develop new understandings in relation to Māori leadership and learning.

This support is offered as part of the Ministry of Education funded Strengthening Early Learning Opportunities (SELO) programme, in conjunction with University of Canterbury, UC Education Plus and Ngāi Tahu through Te Tapuae o Rēhua.
