UC Education Plus works with teachers, leaders, centres and their communities to support early learning opportunites. Through Te Tapuae o Rēhua, a consortium which includes University of Canterbury and Ngāi Tahu, UC Education Plus delivers the Strengthening Early Learning Opportunities (SELO) contract in the following areas:

Māori Leadership in Early Childhood Services

This PLD is for Māori teachers in early childhood services or for teachers with a passion for tamariki Māori succeeding as Māori. It is delivered kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face) and is an opportunity for teachers to engage in narratives that will critically reflect on practice that is culturally responsive.

Canterbury Pasifika Project

This project aims to strengthen quality in Early Childhood Education and raise responsiveness to the community through focusing on Pasifika children, their parents, families and communities, and the importance of their identities, languages and cultures. It aims to create strong foundations for Pasifika children to ensure greater success and participation in quality early learning opportunities.
