Evaluation, Assessment and Planning/ Aromātai, Arotake, Whakarite Mahi
Teachers have fortnightly staff meetings.
At these meetings we discuss:

  • Individual children’s progress within the programme
  • Small group happenings and interests and how we can support these
  • Larger group goals and objectives
  • Ways we, as teachers, can support and enhance children’s learning within the centre environment
  • How the principles, strands and goals of Te Whāriki are reflected in our programme.

An integral part of our programme planning, evaluation and assessment processes is the use of profile books.  Each child who attends the centre will have a profile book which you can view at any time.  Please ask your child’s primary caregiver for this book.
The books contain documentation (through writing, digital photographs and sometimes children’s visual art or creations) of the significant things that are noticed and recognised about children’s learning.
Learning Stories have been developed to support us implement Te Whāriki (The Early Childhood Curriculum) and to include families/ whānau more in making decisions about what learning we give value to at Te Ao Tamariki.  Learning Stories are displayed around the centre and in your child’s profile book.  We encourage you to discuss these with our teachers and share your own stories about your child with us.
