Alternative Format Centre

The Alternative Format Centre offers academic material in alternative formats for students with print disabilities.

The role of the Alternative Format Centre (AFC) is to provide course material in an accessible format for students with impairments. Eligibility for the services offered through AFC is determined by the Disability Resource Service (DRS). Students first need to discuss their needs with a Disability Resource Advisor to identify the most suitable supports.

Resource rooms with the following software and equipment are available for students' use:

  • JAWS Screen Reader
  • MAGic Screen Magnifier
  • Open-Book Optical Character Recognition
  • Dragon Naturally Speaking Speech Recognition
