Bachelor of Science with Honours BSc(Hons)
The BSc(Hons) is an accelerated 12-month full-time postgraduate degree for academically able students. Students are admitted to the BSc(Hons) programme following the completion of a Bachelor of Science degree with very good grades.
The degree comprises coursework that normally includes a research component.
Students who complete the BSc(Hons) with high grades are normally eligible to proceed directly to a PhD.
A student may complete the BSc(Hons) in two subjects (Combined Honours).
Entry requirements
Candidates must have completed a three-year BSc degree with a high level of achievement in appropriate subjects.
Duration
One year full-time or two years part-time for honours (after the completion of a three-year BSc degree).
Students who have been granted direct entry to 200-level undergraduate BSc courses on the basis of high achievement in university entrance assessments may complete a BSc(Hons) after a total of three years study: two years undergraduate (pre-BSc(Hons)) and the one-year (12 months) honours.
