Postgraduate Diploma in Forestry PGDipFor

This diploma is offered to graduates who

  • have a forestry degree or associated qualification and with to update and retrain
  • have another degree and are looking for some exposure to forestry
  • are from countries where the forestry degree is less quantitative than in New Zealand.

This is a one-year programme comprising four courses chosen from a dozen available options, normally including a forestry management or a silviculture course.

It can be used as a platform for entry to the Master of Forestry Science with suitable grades.

Entry requirements

Candidates must have completed one of the following:

  • the equivalent of a bachelor's degree in either Forestry or a related area of study
  • a bachelor's or higher degree in other areas and relevant experience in a forestry-related area.

Courses

To qualify for the diploma a candidate must complete courses which have a minimum weighting of 120 points. At least 90 points shall be from the 300 and 400-level courses on the Foresty schedule.

Duration

One year full-time or two years part-time.
