Description

Management of freshwater resources and current issues relating to the use of water. Topics will include; frameworks for water management, reconciling economic, environmental, social and cultural needs, conflicts over water resource use, legislative requirements, hazard management and mitigation, and future water uses. Includes a half-day fieldtrip.

PLEASE NOTE: The lecture delivery for this course differs from the standard three hour per week in-class format, as the course is delivered jointly with Lincoln University. Lectures are pre-recorded and available on LEARN, and are designed for viewing on a PC. There will be in class tutorials in the lecture room every second week.

The first and final lectures will also be given in the class room at these times. (The above schedule may differ slightly - make sure you check the 2016 course outline at the start of the course).

Prerequisites

45 points at 200 level in any subject area.
