Additional Course Outline Information
All forms of cheating and dishonest practice are taken seriously and penalties will result. Students should refer to Regulation J of the General Course and Examination Regulations.
Where there is evidence that cheating or plagiarism has occurred you will be awarded a F grade (BTchLn) and the matter will be referred to the Coordinator of the Centre of Professional Studies and Practice.
• Failed Assignments In the event of a failed assignment the course must be repeated
• RPL in repeat courses To be considered for RPL in a repeat of any course an assignment must receive a sound pass for BTchLn (this will be at the discretion of the lecturer). The assignment must be sighted by the lecturer of the repeat course).

This course is a competency based course. To pass the course all assignments MUST receive a minimum of a Pass and attendance and participation must be sufficient to meet the learning outcomes of the course. Only one resubmit assignment is allowed per course.
Attendance is vital!! If you miss any sessions you will be required to do a catch up task. If you are absent for two or more sessions, you will risk failing the course. Special requirements may be put in place to catch up with missed work. You must notify the lecturer prior to an absence.
Participation and involvement during lecture sessions is required.
For FLO student’s, participation and involvement applies when attending Residential Schools.
Depth of understanding of key ideas or issues presented within the course will be assessed through assignments and course participation.
Note: Keep your lecturer informed about circumstances, which may affect your attendance or course work. For example, university exams, illness, personal difficulties.
Student feedback about the outcomes of the placement and relevant observer and assoicate teacher issues are part of the post-placement interview with the professional practice lecturer. Information is reported to associate teacher meetings and the Primary Advisory Committee.
Course Coordinator and at least one other lecturer moderate and validate assessment.
Assignments received one to two days after the due date with no extension granted may risk failing at the discretion of the lecturer. No assignments will be accepted once other student’s assignments have been returned to them.

Extensions are not granted automatically to students. A request for an extension should be made before the due date of the piece of assessment, in writing, either by email, fax or letter. Requests for extensions should normally be responded to by the Lecturer within two days. If a student applies for an extension, s/he will be asked to supply a medical certificate or other relevant evidence of special circumstances (e.g. a letter from a counsellor). Lecturers should state their expectations regarding extensions and any penalties that apply in the Course Assessment Statement.
In the event that an assignment has met most but not all of the required outcomes a resubmit may be granted. For BTchLn only one resubmit can be given in any one course.
Late assignments are not eligible for a resubmit. Any assignment can only be resubmitted once.
Timetable for Resubmits: A maximum of one week or five working days to resubmit the assignment is given from the day the assignment is received by you.
(For on campus students it is the student’s responsibility to collect their assignment by the next day if they are not in class on hand back day.)
Aegrotat considerations (students should refer to Regulation H of the General Course and Examination Regulations.)

Students may only apply for an aegrotat consideration on one piece of assessment.
Hand in Arrangements: All FLO assignments must be mailed or emailed to the Academic Services Team in Orakipaoa (Education College Office). All on-campus assignments are to be handed in to your lecturer no later than 4.00 pm the day it is due. If the lecturer is unavailable please hand it into the Academic Services Team in Orakipaoa (College Office) between the hours of 8.30am and 4.00 pm. If assignments are handed in with your Professional Practice folder make sure they are separate and place at the front of the folder. Please include the marking schedule and assignment coversheet for all assignments.
Pick up Arrangements: All FLO assignments will be returned by the Academic Services Team. For on-campus students, it is your responsibility to pick each assignment up from your lecturer or from the Academic Service in the College Office. He/she will not follow up on resubmits and fails. This is your responsibility.
