Health psychology has become one of the most rapidly growing fields of psychology over the past 10 years and is concerned with trying to understand psychological influences on a) how people stay healthy, b) why they become ill, c) how they respond when they do get ill. The field uses and applies theories from various psychological sub-disciplines such as social psychology, clinical psychology, developmental psychology, and personality psychology.
