A continuation of 200-level linear algebra with computational and theoretical aspects and applications.
Matrix algebra is one of the main building blocks of modern applied mathematics. This course is a continuation of stage 2 linear algebra, and teaches both theoretical and computational matrix skills, along with applications.Potential applications of the material in this course include data fitting, non-linear optimization, least squares, and image processing.
This course will:Cover linear progamming, applications, and solution via the revised simplex methodLook at orthogonal decomposition of linear systemsIntroduce positive definite and other special matricesLook at strictly convex quadratic programming and its applications
