Description

Maori culture, history and philosophies, including: Archaeology of the Pacific and Aotearoa. Oral Traditions, iwi traditions, and the origins of Maori. Tikanga, customs and social life. Whakaaro rapunga, philosophies and Maori thought leaders. Conservation, natural lore of land, ocean, taniwha, kaitiakitanga and resource management. Economy, food, feasting and exchange. Students will have the opportunity to research a topic of their choice.

Prerequisites

Any 15 points in 100 level course in MAOR or TREO, or
30 points in 100 level courses in Arts, Education, Fine Arts, Music and Social Work, or
by permission of the Head of School.
