Description

This course focuses on some of the most important and controversial debates in the historiography of twentieth-century Europe. Students will be encouraged to explore these debates in detail, to consider the historiographical context within which these debates have taken place, and to arrive at their own views based on their extensive research in primary and secondary sources. Students will cover five debates in all: four core debates (The Origins of World War I; The Paris Peace Conference; The Origins of World War II in Europe; The Holocaust) as well as one optional debate, chosen by the students themselves.
