War and Society in Europe, 1900-1945
Description
Focusing on the two world wars of 1914-18 and 1939-45, this course explores the relationship between war and society in Europe during the first half of the twentieth century. The military history of both conflicts is examined in some depth, but the course also investigates the political, diplomatic, and social history of the two world wars. Specific topics that are covered include the causes, military history and social history of World War I; the causes, military history and social history of World War II; resistance in the German-occupied territories during World War II; the politics and diplomacy of both world wars.
