Description

The politics and political systems of France, Germany, the UK and the European Union. This course focuses on the interaction between key member states within the EU - France, Germany and the UK - as well as examining internal policy making sectors at the EU level.

This course focuses on the interaction between key member states within the EU, as well as examines internal policy making sectors at the EU level. The member states considered in-depth include:

- the United Kingdom
- France
- Germany
- The policy sectors at the EU level considered include:
- the Common Agricultural Policy
- the single market
- monetary union
- citizenship
- immigration
- environmental policy
- enlargement

The course is divided between lectures and seminars, a number of which will involve student led participation. Assessment will involve essays, seminar presentation and the opportunity to undertake an extended research project on a topic of your choice approved by the course lecturer.
