Description

This course explores the social construction of crime and punishment in American popular culture. We will focus on popular representations - in films, novels, song, true crime narratives, reality television, television docudramas and news media - of crime and punishment with particular emphasis on the role class, race, gender, and sexuality play in the production and consumption of such popular representations.

Pre-requisites

Any 44 points from the Arts or Law schedules at 200 level, or with approval of Programme Director.
