Advanced Timber Engineering
Description
Review of earthquake engineering principles; earthquake resistance of timber buildings; conceptual design of multi-storey buildings; ply shear walls and diaphragm action; traditional and innovative timber floor solutions; acoustics insulation and fire resistance.
Conceptual design of a wide range of timber buildings. New developments in design of multi-storey timber buildings for seismic and non-seismic loading. Design and construction of timber and timber-composite floor systems, frames and walls. Design requirements for diaphragm action, fire safety and acoustic performance. Sustainability and environmental impacts of timber buildings.
