Description

Emergent research methodologies address approaches to research where the researcher is active in the context of the research, as well as in the design and analysis of the research. In many cases other participants also become co-researchers and knowledge is generated iteratively. In some cases, knowledge is generated by the community with the researcher as their agent.

This course explores the ways in which research methodologies are responding to the complexities of understanding contemporary experiences and worlds.  You will be introduced to several emergent directions in conceptualizing social processes and realities, and learn how and why they are being used by researchers. You will gain practical experience as researchers in putting these theories to work in your own self- selected projects, and gain an understanding of their usefulness in understanding, and responding to contemporary social and educational issues.
