Special topic: sub-state nationalism in New Zealand, the Americas and Europe
Description
Whether in New Zealand, the Americas or Europe, minority and regional political elites are pushing the limits of devolution within the state. The accommodation of those demands has profound implications for the theoretical and practical politics of the modern state. An increasing body of theoretical and empirical literature within political science and philosophy argues over the promotion of such devolution and its negative or positive impact. Topics examined from a sub-state national perspective include sovereignty, legitimacy, and institutional design.
