Middle Years Information System (MidYIS)

The MidYIS baseline assessment is largely curriculum-free. It measures students’ strengths and weaknesses across four sub-scales: literacy, numeracy, visual/non-verbal and processing. The MidYIS baseline assessments cover generic and transferable skills which are necessary for successful academic study and are a good predictor of later academic achievement.

Detailed online feedback is provided to set targets and report on the value-added at the student, subject and schoolwide level. The data is useful for annual reports and school improvement plans and is broken down by gender, ethnicity and ability groupings.

There are two MidYIS projects available:

Value-added assessment using a baseline test in the beginning of Year 7 and English, mathematics and science tests at the end of Year 8. View PowerPoint: Using MidYIS7 to inform Teaching & Learning.
