Benefits of engaging a student

There are probably heaps of things you've been wanting to do - but simply haven't had the time or staff to do it. You will gain fresh ideas, raise your profile, get short term projects done and have the opportunity to indentify potential employees.

Find the right student for your business

Get the right person for the job. We have resources to help you draft a job description, decide on selection criteria and a template you can use to identify the specifications for the job.

Options to structure the postion

Options vary depending on what you want to achieve. Ways to structure the position include; part-time employmnet, graduate position, casual position, work integrated learning (WIL) and volunteer work. There are legal requirements for each you need to be aware of.

Prepare to engage a student

Preparation is vital for both you and your student. Our resources take you through questions that will help you define your objectives and make sure you've thought of the resources, time and information you'll need to provide.

You can register your company’s details and post your own job on the NZUniCareerHub website

The University of Canterbury has a online recruitment tool called NZUniCareerHub for all employers to use when advertising vacancies to students. NZUniCareerHub is accessed by all registered students and graduate of UC. Our resources help you step-by-step write a job ad to attract the right student.
