What to do in the event of an accident. (UC staff only)
If a vehicle cannot be driven have it towed to the nearest service station and contact the Fleet Manager (3643586 or ext 3586).
The GSB card that all vehicles have has Auto Assist. This is a 24hr emergency breakdown Accident assist. By phoning 0800 655176 or Cellular *2273 Auto Assist will assist your vehicle to be towed to the nearest garage. They will also get your key out of the vehicle or change/repair tyres. $35 will be charged to the GSB fuel card and an additional fee for the service provided, normally about $55.18. (which is also charged to the card). All vehicles have two cards, one being the GSB card for Caltex, Challenge and BP.
If outside working hours, the Fleet Manager must be informed on the next working day.
The Insurance Form and Incident Report must be filled in.

Vehicle window replacement and chip repairs
For Fleet and Learning Resources vehicles contact the Fleet Manager (ext 3586) if repairs are required. Departments can get their own University vehicles windows repaired. Glass repairs are covered by the University Vehicle Insurance. There are two preferred repair companies. Smith and Smith Glass 0800 153060 or Fast Autoglass 0800708708. Currently the University vehicles are insured by Zurich, policy number 4005580. If repairs are required outside working hours the driver can contact the glass company and inform the Fleet Manager on the next working day.
Tyre replacement and puncture repairs
Bridgestone (Firestone) have an account with the University.
For Fleet and Learning Resources vehicles contact the Fleet Manager (ext 3586) if repairs are required. If outside working hours, University vehicles can have work carried out by Bridgestone but the Fleet Manager must be informed on the next working day.
Other Department Vehicles can carry out repairs in the same way but inform their Department.
