Pathway to degree - Foundation Studies

The Certificate in Foundation Studies will enable you to meet the academic and English language entry requirements for most of the undergraduate degree programmes offered by the University of Canterbury. From July 2014 the Certificate will no longer be offered at the University of Canterbury. A Foundation Studies programme will be offered by UCIC on this campus.

  • Bachelor of Forestry Science
  • Bachelor of Social Work (all four years)
  • Bachelor of Teaching and Learning
  • Bachelor of Music (three years)

Foundation Year

When you successfully complete the programme you will be awarded the Certificate in Foundation Studies. This certificate is accepted as an entry qualification for the University of Canterbury and other New Zealand universities. However, in New Zealand all universities reserve the right to require students to meet their own English language entry criteria.
