University Teaching Awards
The University has announced the recipients of the 2011 annual Teaching Awards. Further details are available at the awards website.
University Teaching Week
The University is holding an inaugural Teaching Week from 5 June - 8 June 2012 to help raise the profile of teaching and celebrate the best of teaching at the University. Further details of the planned events are available from Eleri Nugent.
University Grading Scale
The University is bringing in a common grading scale for Semester 1, 2012. This replaces many different scales that have been used in the past and will be applied across the University to all preparatory, undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate courses and across all Faculties. CUAP Audit Report
In April 2011, Universitiies New Zealand invited the New Zealand Universities Academic Audit Unit (NZUAAU) to conduct an audit of the Committee on University Academic Programmes (CUAP). Written and oral submissions were supplied by staff from Canterbury. The resulting audit report including recommendations has now been released.
2012 Academic Year
The structure of the year has been approved by the Academic Board and Senior Management Team, and can be found at UC Key Dates, 2012
Blue Book (Procedures for creating, reviewing and modifying courses, programmes and qualifications) See Programme and Course Approval opposite under Resources. The Blue Book will not be re-printed during 2012.
Minor Course Change System
The minor course change system is open for changes to 2013 courses and occurrences. It will close in early July.
Graduating Year Reviews
A Graduating Year Review (GYR) is a review of CUAP-approved new qualifications or new subjects/endorsements and must be completed within three years of the expected graduation of the first cohort of students. The Graduating Year Review Schedule (Excel, 13 KB) (last updated January 2012) is provided for staff reference.
Programme Review Schedule
Programme Reviews are the University's quality assurance process for determining whether a programme of study meets expected national and international standards. The Programme Review Schedule (Excel, 11 KB) for reviews to be completed in 2012 is provided for staff reference.
