Certificate in Foundation Studies

This full-time programme is designed for international students who do not meet the
University’s entry requirements.

The programme runs over 30 weeks with two thirteen-week teaching blocks and there are three intakes per year.

Students who successfully complete the programme will be granted admission to undergraduate level study at UC and will be eligible to apply for Admission Ad Eundem Statum at all other New Zealand universities.

University of Canterbury Certificate in Foundation Studies



To qualify for the award of the Certificate, a student must complete oral, practical, written and other work required as part of the Foundation Studies programme, gain credit for the compulsory subjects and achieve an average grade of C or better across the full programme.

University of Auckland

 University of Auckland Foundation Studies Certificate, and IELTS of 6.0 (Academic module), with no section score lower than 6.0.
Auckland University of Technology AUT International Foundation Certificate with at least 65% in English 2.
Lincoln University Certificate in Foundation Studies with at least a C Pass in "English Language and Communication", "Learning and Study Issues" and "Integrative Study Skills".
Massey University Massey University Certificate in Foundation Studies.

University of Otago

 Grade point average (GPA) of 6.5 for entry and a minimum pass of C (GPA 6.5) in Foundation Year English.
Victoria University of Wellington A Victoria University of Wellington Certificate of Foundation Studies.
University of Waikato Certificate of Attainment in Foundation Studies.
