Transfer of credit

Transfer of Credit means UC recognises a partial qualification you have successfully passed at another tertiary institution. It is credited towards the qualification you are studying here at UC.

Transfer of credit is not automatic. We want to be fair to you and recognise relevant former study. Each application is different and we carefully check to make sure:

  • the standards of UC qualifications are protected and maintained
  • you meet the required standard to give you the best chance of succeeding
  • we meet policy and legal requirements

If your application is not successful there is an appeal process you will be told about.

Application Fee

The application fee is $100

Students transferring to the University through formal articulation programmes are not required to pay this fee.

How to Apply

  1. Apply for admission. If you have already been granted admission to your degree or are currently enrolled in your degree at the University of Canterbury you do not need to reapply for admission.

International students wanting to transfer credit from a New Zealand tertiary institution must either have a New Zealand university entrance qualification or have been granted admission with equivalent status (ad eundem statum) by a New Zealand university. If you are unsure please contact admission@canterbury.ac.nz
