New Students to UC
Ilam Apartments is a modern accommodation complex which is home to students from all corners of the globe and from New Zealand.
To help students settle in to New Zealand life as quickly as possible, all new individual international students over the age of 18 years are guaranteed an offer of a single room in one of the self-catered apartments at UC Accommodation Student Village. This offer is for the academic year from February through to December.
Applications received between 1 August and 1 December are eligible for the guaranteed offer of accommodation; applications received after 1 December will be offered accommodation subject to availability.
If accommodation is required for a different period to this, an offer may still be made on a case by case basis with the minimum contract length being 22 weeks.
Students who would like to take up this offer need to complete the following two steps:
- Complete the online application form for accommodation (select Ilam Apartments as your first choice hall).
- Return the signed copy of the “UC Accommodation Form” to the Accommodation Office – this form is sent to you with your unconditional Offer of a Place letter from UC. It can be returned to us by fax, by post or as a scanned image in an email.
After you have completed the above steps, offer documents will be sent to you by email – students must complete and return their offer documents by the due date stated on their offer to ensure their accommodation.
UC Accommodation Student Village provide a range of modern accommodation
complexes which are home to students from all corners of
the globe as well as from New Zealand. They are ideal for individual
students over 18 years of age. The self-catered apartments offer
independent living with the bonus of living on-campus in a secure
and supportive study environment. Residents have their own
fully-furnished bedroom with internet access and each apartment
has a kitchen equipped with basic essentials for students to make
their own meals. Residents also have the option of purchasing
either a full meal plan or casual meals at the University Hall dining
room, located only a few minutes walk away.
Please Note: In 2012 the Ilam Apartments will have fully-catered and semi-catered meal options and will also continue to have self-catered apartments for students who wish to provide their own meals.
Rooms will be allocated at the discretion of UC Accommodation Student Village in either the Ilam Apartments or the Sonoda Christchurch Campus.
