Rebecca Collins - Rochester and Rutherford Hall
Rebecca Collins
Rochester and Rutherford Hall
First-year, 2009
Studying towards a Bachelor of Sport Coaching
Originally from Timaru, Rebecca was motivated to undertake studies at UC because of its proximity to home, and the fact that it's the only university in New Zealand to offer her chosen subject.
Rebecca is studying towards a Bachelor of Sport Coaching and plans one day to become a qualified massage therapist and sports trainer/sports physiologist.
‘My sports philosophy is to learn new skills and to teach them to others in a way that is easiest for them to learn.'
While at UC, Rebecca is living at Rochester and Rutherford Hall where she enjoys the friendly people and family-like environment. She chose to live in a Hall to ease the transition from home life to university life.
‘I thought living at Rochester and Rutherford would be a good way to meet new people and to get used to the city before I go out on my own.'
Rebecca's advice to anyone applying to the UC halls of residence: ‘Make sure you pick a hall not just because all your friends are going there, but because it's the hall that best suits you'.
