How to Apply to Live in a Hall of Residence
NB: If you are a student who is currently in a UC hall of residence and would like to return for the following year, please contact your hall directly, do not apply using the form below.
The Halls of Residence accepting applications for Semester 2 2010 are:
- University Hall (fully-catered)
- Sonoda Christchurch Campus (semi-catered)
- Ilam Apartments (self-catered)
If you are interested in accommodation at College House (fully-catered) for the remainder of Semester 2 please contact the Accommodation Office.
Applications for 2011 are now open
Please note: Equal consideration is given to all applications received between 1 August and the due date of 1 October 2010. The date of your application between these times is not taken into account in the selection process.
To complete your application you will need to upload a copy of your Record of Achievement. This can be saved as a word or pdf file and attached to your online application.

Step 2. Complete section (a), (b) or (c) below, as appropriate. |
| (a) If you are a student coming to UC on an approved Study Abroad or Exchange programme; or are an NZAID scholarship student, please email accommodation@canterbury.ac.nz once you have applied online as a reference form is not always required. |
| (b) If you are a new International student applying from overseas and would like to accept the UC Accommodation guaranteed offer, please send your completed UC Accommodation Form which was sent to you with your unconditional offer of a place from the university to the Accommodation Office. |
(c) For all other students, please send a completed 2010 Common Confidential Reference Form (pdf, 99KB) to the Accommodation Office or for 2011, a 2011 Common Confidential Reference Form (86KB). Print out the form and fill in Section A, and then give it to your nominated referee* to complete Section B. As this is a confidential reference, your referee should send the completed form to the Accommodation Office on your behalf. *Who should be your Referee?

Please note that your application is not complete and will not be sent to the hall for consideration until you have completed both the steps above.
