Conducting online surveys and the Survey Policy
Any online survey that requires access to contact details collected by the University, belonging to the entirety of, a significant proportion of, or a large percentage of cohorts within the University student community, will be considered to be within the scope of the Survey Policy (Survey Policy and Application Procedures for Online Student Surveys). Survey administrators intending to conduct a survey will be required to follow the procedures listed within this policy, to have their survey scheduled in the Survey Calendar. For additional information on how it works, to see the Survey Calendar or contact the Survey Coordinator, follow this link: Online Student Surveys.
Support from Academic Services Group
Academic Services Group offers support in the areas of survey design and survey administration. Priority is given to institutional research surveys such as Graduating Year Reviews in the Faculties, the Australasian Survey of Student Engagement (AUSSE), or the Graduate Destination Survey for Careers, Internships and Employment. We also offer (limited) survey and data analysis support for service units. Academics who require advice on the analysis of survey data are strongly encouraged to contact the University’s statistics consultant, Dr Elena Moltchanova, in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
Surveys are preferably administered through Qualtrics, the University’s survey tool, which is jointly administered by Academic Services Group and the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring.
The use of other products such as SurveyMonkey, is discouraged for official University (research) purposes.
Course and teaching surveys
The set up of a new Course and teaching survey system is currently in progress. In the future the Course and teaching surveys will be administered by ASG, and will no longer be handled through the CEM (Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring). The next opportunity for course surveys will be late January 2016. Teaching surveys will likely be available for S1 2016.
