Researcher Summary

Richard's principal areas of research are Japanese art and aesthetics. He curated the 'Pleasure and Play in Edo Japan' exhibition at the Canterbury Museum (December 2009 - March 2010) and edited the accompanying publication. “Art and the Life of the East Asians: Some Thoughts on Teaching East Asian Aesthetics” is forthcoming in 'Teaching Asian Art: Content, Context, and Pedagogy' (ed. Sheng Kuan Chung), National Art Education Association
